P.S. I Love You

hiya folks,
i will talk about jhumpa lahiri's the lowland but before that lets talk about something called love.now what do you guys think love is? a complex chemical reaction of the brain or some mechanisms yet unexplained of the heart?whatever it is i think it makes or breaks our lives.isn't it?
in this context comes Cecelia Ahern's novel P.S. I Love You. it was first published in great britain by harper collins publishers in 2004.so i am pretty sure many of you have read it already.it was also turned into a major film starring hilary swank and gerard butler.
coming back to the novel, to start with, let me tell you friends it will make you love your beloved ones even more;you will start treasuring your life and thank god that you are blessed with having your loved ones around you.the protagonist of the novel Holly Kennedy loses her husband Gerry to brain tumour. completely lost and lonely in the wide world without him inspite of having friends and family she stops living.she stumbles in and out of reality and dreams where she sees, feels her dead husband.she locks herself in their house and doesn't eat or shower or clean her home or search for a job.although her best mates sharon and denise or her family try to support her, she is drained emotionally.at this precise juncture comes letters from her dead husband Gerry one each month.as if Gerry had come back to her life and she started over although with great difficulty.she did as she was told and slowly she found the footholds of life.the loving spirit of Gerry guided her be it singing in a karaoke competition at club diva (she was Gerry's disco diva) or going to a holiday to Lanzarote or just simply buying herself a pretty dress,a table lamp.with Gerry's advice of "shooting for the moon" she landed herself into a good job.at the end it was implied that although Gerry's life was over her's continued and there was a possibility of her being happy in the future.

so basically the story is of hope, courage and determination in the face of great difficulties of life.it is a story of someone as common as us with simple dreams and aspirations.it is a tale of pure love;a tale of true soul mates;a tale of sacrifices, the joys of giving and sharing;a tale of the wonderful bond of family and friends.it reminds us nothing lasts forever.this is Cecilia Ahern's masterpiece,a gift for us all to help us appreciate life in all its fragrances.her writing is lucid yet expresses the most complex emotions masterfully.also the love between siblings and friends, their different shades is portrayed wonderfully.so thats P.S.I Love You for now.do tell me how you like it or if you want to know more about it.in the meantime do grab a copy of this book and read it.trust me with a cosy couch and a mug of coffee you will be in heaven.
see you soon with more other interesting reviews and other stories.........................
